Tarun Rai new CEO of World Wide Media

Worldwide Media has appointed Mr.Tarun Rai as its new CEO. He will take charge his new positione from today. Mr.Tarun Rai moves in from JWT India, where he had worked as Managing Partner. He was with JWT India for 17 years. Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd is a 50:50 joint venture between BBC Worldwide and The Times of India Group and publishes magazines such as Filmfare, Femina etc.,

Commenting on the new appointment, Rai said, “India is a high-growth market and Worldwide Media is well positioned to exploit this potential with some of the world’s best magazine titles. I’m incredibly excited to be working on leading brands such as Filmfare, Femina, Hello! and Top Gear, and launching many new titles.”

Peter Phippen, MD and Chairman-BBC Magazines, Worldwide Media, said, “Worldwide Media is the magazine gateway to India. This meant that we were looking for an outstanding leader for the CEO’s post. Tarun has a great combination of commercial and creative expertise that will grow the company’s position as one of India’s largest magazine publishers in a rapidly expanding marketplace.”

Rai has over 18 years’ experience in the advertising business helping build some of the world’s most reputed brands. His clients at JWT included Unilever, Diageo, GlaxoSmithkline, Pizza Hut, Reebok, DeBeers, Nestle, Kellogg and Merill Lynch. Rai has worked across several JWT offices and has a very successful record of building strong teams and achieving aggressive business targets.
